The Friends of the Fairview Public Library existed for many years and is currently regrouping. The first activity was a very successful book sale at the Library in April. The Friends plan to use the proceeds from the Book Sale to help support this year's Summer Reading Program. The Friends group wants to thank the public for purchasing the materials and the local businesses who advertised the sale on their marquees.
The Friends is an all-volunteer organization. You can contribute not only by paying annual dues, but also by giving your time and energy to assist with fundraising efforts and work in the library. If you are interested in joining the Friends, call Gerry Stark at 799-0267, or contact the Library at 799-0235 for more information. Fairview Friends officers for 2008 are: President-Jeanette Mellendorf, Vice President-Patti Erland, Secretary-Julie Thomas, and Treasurer-Gerry Stark.
