Friends Membership Meeting

A membership meeting of the Friends is scheduled for Thurs. Sept. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Children’s Activity Room of the Main Library. Attendees will be able to meet their fellow Friends members, join the Friends, volunteer for newly established committees, and much more. Special guest speaker will be U.S. Army Captain and helicopter pilot Matt Woolsey, who just returned from 15 months in Iraq. Matt will talk about how a Friends donation of books shipped overseas helped him establish a library for the soldiers.

Book Sale Report

The Friends of the Williamson County Public Library recently concluded a recordbreaking book sale, taking in nearly $9,000 in just 3 days. A first-ever Preview Night was held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 20 when current Friends members could purchase up to 10 items before the sale opened to the public on Thursday morning.
A membership drive was conducted in conjunction with the sale and the Friends welcomed many new members and formed several vitally important committees. In October, all members (new and existing) will receive a postcard inviting them to the next preview sale Nov.5, prior to the Nov. 6 – 8 sale.

The Friends appreciate all who gift the Library with gently used books and other materials. Materials that are accepted benefit the Library in several ways. Donated items are often used either to supplement the Library's collection, or to replace damaged or missing items. Materials that are not appropriate for these purposes are transferred to the Friends to be placed in the Book Sale. See the Gifts and Donations guidelines for more information.

Friends Give New Bags for Books

The gift of these sturdy colorful bags will allow library patrons to take home lots of books and bring them back in a secure container. Thanks to the Friends of the Williamson County Public Library for their ongoing support and commitment to the programs and services of the library.
