The Franklin Friends of the Library group held its summer Garden Tour on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15, 2008. The Friends would like to thank everyone who attended the tour. There were some truly lovely gardens this year, and even though it rained on Saturday morning, no spirits were dampened, and a few loyal guests arrived with umbrellas. The Friends appreciate your support! The Friends Book Sales for 2008 are planned for August 21-24, and November 6-9. The Friends appreciate all who gift the Library with gently used books and other materials. Materials that are accepted benefit the Library in several ways. Donated items are often used either to supplement the Library's collection, or to replace damaged or missing items. Materials that are not appropriate for these purposes are transferred to the Friends to be placed in the Book Sale. See the Gifts and Donations guidelines for more information.
Friends Give New Bags for Books The gift of these sturdy colorful bags will allow library patrons to take home lots of books and bring them back in a secure container. Thanks to the Friends of the Williamson County Public Library for their ongoing support and commitment to the programs and services of the library. Since December of 2006, the Friends have donated $16,375 from book sales and their annual Garden Tours to the Library for materials and equipment plus $10,005 in a Community Enhancement Grant award from the State of Tennessee. This generous donation has purchased books, two Early Literacy Computers in the Children’s Department, Confederate Soldiers Service Records (on microfilm), and language instruction software. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Friends of the Library group, please fill out a membership application. |
