The Williamson County Public Library System seeks to meet the recreational, educational, and information needs of the citizens of Williamson County through a county-wide network of libraries located in the Bethesda, College Grove , Fairview, Leiper's Fork, and Nolensville communities. Franklin houses the Main and Local History/Genealogy libraries.




The Main Library and all branches will be CLOSED on Friday, July 4 to observe Independence Day.

Bethesda Library to Close for Carpet Replacement

The Bethesda Public Library will be closed July 17 through July 30 for carpet replacement. Requests for materials from the Bethesda Library will be honored until July 11. Patrons with requests for books located at the Bethesda location will be contacted to select an alternative pick-up location. Patrons who have items checked out from the Bethesda Library should continue to return all items, so their records can be updated. The library is expected to re-open on Friday, August 1. Thank you for your patience as we work to make your library experience more pleasant.




Author Afternoon with Buddy Carter

William "Buddy" Carter will speak at an Author Afternoon on Saturday, July 19 at 2:00 pm in the Meeting Room of the Main Library at Franklin. Carter is a columnist for the Williamson Herald, and the author of numerous books and articles. Born in Americus, GA, Carter grew up in Plains in the shadow of his famous uncle President Jimmy Carter. After college, he came to Franklin to work for Tom T. Hall, a friend of his father, Billy Carter. He fell in love with Franklin, and returned with his wife in 1987 to rear their two sons. Carter is the author of a novel, The Search for Savin' Sam, and of Billy Carter, A Journey Through the Shadows, a memoir of his father.




Rally Round the Flag, Boys

On Saturday, July 19 at 1:00 pm in the Meeting Room, Lawrence Duke will present a talk on the importance of flags in the Civil War. Duke has Masters degrees in History and Anthropology from the University of Memphis, and has worked as a Park Ranger/Historical Interpreter at the Shiloh Battlefield, Valley Forge National Military Parks, Independence Hall, and the Boston National Military Parks. He is currently a History Instructor at Columbia State Community College.

WCPL is on the air

Library Link, a new radio program on WAKM AM-95, is being aired once per month, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. Library Director Janice Keck discusses library happenings, interesting books to read, and new services. Tune in on the last Friday of every month at 9:06 a.m.



Creating a PIN at the Library

The Williamson County Public Library recently implemented PINs (Personal Identification Numbers) as a new library service to provide secure access to your library record. You can create your own unique PIN by following these instructions.
