AUTHOR AFTERNOON
James Russell Lingerfelt
![]() Saturday, June 9, 2012 2 - 4 pm Meeting Room James Russell Lingerfelt's first novel, The Mason Jar, a coming of age love story set in Tennessee, was distributed as a pre-released book in December 2011. The Mason Jar is now available in bookstores worldwide. Lingerfelt worked on the novel for five years. Thus far, there has been a grassroots buzz about the book. Best-selling author Diana Bold said she was "blown away" by The Mason Jar. And award-winning author Nicole Weaver stated in a review, "Lingerfelt's book reads like one long beautiful poem." Lingerfelt received consultation during the book's creation from Brad Cummings, the mastermind and co-creator of the international best-selling book, The Shack.
He will happily sign copies of his book that are brought to or purchased at the event . |

Preserving the literary history of Williamson County began in 1979 when the library received a donation from Mrs. Core [Mary Govan] Steele, mother of children's author, William O. Steele. This donation provided the catalyst for establishing a Local Author collection: first by identifying and moving books in the circulating collection to a separate non-circulating location; and then by conducting research through interviews, newspaper articles, and other sources.
This research was conducted first by members of the Literary Committee of the Williamson County Arts Council, then by the Williamson County Council for the Written Word and now the Williamson County Public Library. The collection has grown exponentially, but the library needs your help to identify newly published authors who are adding to Williamson County's growing literary heritage. |
Dedicated In Memory of Janice Elaine Keck June 2, 1947 - February 20, 2011 Janice served Williamson County's citizens, literature, the arts, and literacy with a positive attitude and a fierce spirit. |
