Mystique of the East

Anderia and Abby of Maqam Belly Dance Troupe perform in the Meeting Room for the first Young Adult Summer Reading Program event: The Mystique of the East. Featured at the program were belly dancers, henna, and a variety of Eastern snack foods.

Anderia and Abby instruct a group of teens on different belly dancing moves. Is that Suzanne from Circulation learning to shake her belly thang? I think it is!

Part of this program included the application of henna in the Mehndi tradition. Here, Young Adult Librarian Mary Scott applies the henna paste from a cone onto the hand of a fearless teen! Henna paste will generally stay on the skin from 2-6 weeks, depending on the quality and age of the paste.
Mystique of the East was presented at the Williamson County Public Library as part of the Young Adult Summer Reading program. For more information about this and other Young Adult programs, please contact Mary Scott at 615-595-1278 or mscott@williamson-tn.org
