The Williamson County Public Library System has opportunities for volunteers at each of the library locations. Volunteer applications are available at the Information Desk of the Main Library in Franklin and at the Circulation desks of the branches.

Volunteers are needed at the library to help with a variety of projects. Volunteers can work with the Friends of the Library and help with the Used Book Sale or the Annual Appreciation Breakfast. Volunteers can also work at the library and help in the Special Collections department or in other departments.

Friends Activities

• Used Book Sale - An on-going project at the library. Help is needed to sort, shelve, and price books, once or twice a week.
• Annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast - In the fall to thank all the workers, volunteers, and the Board of Trustees. Help is needed with sending invitations, cooking, setup, decorations, serving, and cleanup.

Library Activities

• Genealogy Department - Adults are needed to assist with maintaining the Obituary and Marriage database by clipping articles or recording from microfilm. Volunteers are needed to work with indexing, transcribing and processing collections of all kinds and to assist patrons in their research. Ability to work with the public a must.
• Children’s Department - Help is needed to assist with summer reading program, year-long weekly story-time and crafts, and keeping the children’s area neat.
• Reference Department - Ongoing help is needed maintaining the vertical file, clipping and filing articles, and to keep the library looking attractive: straightening books and other materials and maintaining their order on the shelves.
• Circulation Department - Help is always needed to keep the library looking attractive: straightening books and maintaining their order on the shelves.
