Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War
This exhibit examines how President Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three intertwined crises of the Civil War—the secession of Southern states, slavery, and wartime civil liberties. This Subject Guide features books for further study of the exhibit's themes.
The exhibit is a collaboration between the American Library Association Public Programs Office and the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, and is funded by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to the National Constitution Center.
